Teaching beginners how to sew
About
How SIY Club got its start
SIY Club products stem from Amy's love of teaching beginners to sew. When the pandemic shut down most non-essential services, sewing lessons were just another casualty. Ironically, more people became interested in sewing during that time thanks to mask-making efforts and extra time at home. Requests started coming in about learning to sew over video conference. But Amy knew that to really teach someone how to sew confidently, being right next to them was important.
Post-pandemic, Amy's Salt Lake teaching studio was thriving and students were loving her beginner-friendly approach and projects! She began selling projects as ready-to-go kits and in 2025 the SIY Club courses were created. Courses are based on the same proven approach that Amy has used with over 200 students since 2018. That is, focusing on foundational concepts, understanding the machine, and knowing how to avoid (and fix) the common pitfalls. With step-by-step videos, it's just as if a sewing teacher is right there with you.
